The Rotary International Convention 2024 brought more than 10,000 delegates from around the world to Singapore for a large-scale, multi-venue international event. Managing transport for a global audience of this size required precise
coordination, particularly in a dense urban environment with high public transport usage.
A key challenge was ensuring consistency and reliability across all transport services. Previous events had experienced issues with unregistered or “ghost” buses, creating confusion and operational inefficiencies. For this convention, it was critical that every vehicle movement was accounted for, every delegate journey was clearly communicated, and safety and accessibility were maintained at all times.
In addition, the transport program needed to support a wide range of users, including senior Rotary leaders, speakers and delegates with mobility requirements, while providing clear on-ground guidance to help international attendees navigate unfamiliar transport systems.
TMS was engaged to deliver a coordinated, end-to-end transport solution that prioritised structure, reliability and clarity. Working closely with Rotary International and local authorities, TMS developed a comprehensive transport framework tailored to the convention’s specific needs.
This included managing the procurement of vehicles and establishing a trusted network of local transport providers to ensure consistent service delivery. Detailed journey planning and scheduling were implemented to support efficient movements between hotels and event venues, while clear communication protocols ensured all stakeholders remained aligned.
On-ground support formed a critical component of the operation. Trained transport and wayfinding staff were deployed across key locations to assist delegates, manage passenger flows and provide real-time support. Robust safety protocols and contingency planning were embedded throughout the program, enabling potential risks to be identified and addressed proactively.
The transport operation for the Rotary International Convention Singapore 2024 was delivered successfully, supporting the smooth movement of more than 10,000 delegates throughout the event. Services operated reliably and as planned, eliminating the issues experienced at previous conventions and providing delegates with confidence in their daily travel.
